Awarded a B.A. in English Literature from Swarthmore College and a MFA in creative writing from San Francisco State College, David Cohen received his acupuncture certification from the California Acupuncture College in 1985. Specializing in internal medicine, especially problems of aging and inflammatory and immune-compromised diseases, he has been in private practice since 1986. David has taught Principles and Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Yo San University since the school first opened in 1989.

In this advanced course on Traditional Chinese Medicine, David Cohen, L.Ac., teaches a survey of differential diagnosis according to Zang Fu organ patterns (Zheng). As the third segment in our introductory course on TCM theory, it is the culmination of the entire sequence. Students are expected to grasp moderately complex concepts pertaining to differential diagnosis and treatment principles. Following is the class outline which focuses on functions, syndromes, treatment principles, herbs and prescriptions for the Zang Fu organs:
